THE BIRDS NEST
Take a rest at the nest
The Birds Nest is a one bedroom tiny house nestled in the trees among the farm. Although tiny, The Birds Nest is packed with history. The logs used to construct The Birds Nest are from what used to be an 1800s tobacco barn that once stood in South Boston, VA, the floors in the home were recycled from Fort Loudon, right here in Winchester. Fort Loudon was built between 1756 and 1758 under the supervision of Colonel George Washington. George Washington was headquartered at Fort Loudon for two years. After Fort Loudon was abandoned, it was utilized for an all-girls school until the 1950's when it was closed and turned into apartments.
The Birds Nest features one bedroom, a foldable table, kitchenet including a hot plate, sink, microwave, coffee pot, and mini fridge, a bathroom with standing shower stall, and a beautiful front porch where you can sit and take in all the beauty Shady Elm Farm has to offer.
